Hola!

My name is Sara Carrillo, a Spanish tutor based here in Edinburgh.

With over seven years of living in places like Scotland, Ireland, and England, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the diversity of cultures and languages. This experience not only shapes how I teach but also helps me connect with my students, understanding both the struggles and the victories of learning a new language.

I’m a certified Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) tutor, helping learners of all levels dive into Spanish without the stress! With experience in both language and literature, I tailor lessons to fit your unique style and goals. Whether you’re starting from scratch or just brushing up, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Online Learning

As the world has shifted towards online learning, I have embraced this change wholeheartedly. I started as a face-to-face Spanish tutoring, but transitioning to the online format has allowed me to reach a wider audience and offer flexible learning options.

To further support English-speaking learners, I founded Quedamos Languages. Through my Virtual Classroom, I offer self-paced courses and engaging vocabulary activities designed to make learning Spanish both effective and enjoyable. My mission is to create resources that make the Spanish language accessible to learners around the globe.

Teaching Philosophy

My goal? To spark a love for the language and give you the confidence to use Spanish in your everyday life—whether it’s ordering tapas or chatting with new friends! My teaching philosophy is all about creating a relaxed, supportive space where you can jump in, participate, and feel good about your progress.

Beyond languages, my heart beats for music and art, which I see as vibrant tools to enrich my lessons. Together, we’ll explore where every lesson is a melody and every word is a brushstroke on the canvas of culture!

I enjoy incorporating poetry and creative writing into my lessons as they effectively build language skills while fostering an appreciation for literature. By exploring different forms of artistic expression, students gain a deeper understanding of the language and its cultural significance.
